Terms of use

What these pages are, and what they aren't.

Short, because the site is a set of pages and two calculators. The engagement has its own agreement and this doesn't stand in for it.

01

What this page covers, and what it doesn't

These terms cover your use of https://runonchip.com and the tools on it. They're between you and Todreamalife, LLC (“TDAL”), which trades as CHIP.

They don't govern paid work. If we end up working together, that engagement has its own written agreement, and where the two disagree, the engagement wins. Nothing on this site is an offer capable of acceptance, and nothing here creates a contract to do work.

02

Using the site

Read it, use the tools, download the material, and send any of it to a colleague. That's what it's for.

What we ask you not to do is narrow: don't try to break into parts of it that aren't public, don't scrape it at a rate that degrades it for anyone else, and don't republish it as your own.

03

The calculator and the questionnaire produce estimates, not forecasts

Both tools take figures you enter about your own business and apply ranges drawn from comparable work. The output is an illustration of what a change of that shape tends to be worth. It isn't a projection of your results, and it isn't advice.

Where the site gives a range for hours saved, capacity gained or payback period, treat it as the starting point for a conversation rather than a number to plan against. Your own figures, once we've looked at them together, are the ones worth using.

Any pricing shown on this site is indicative. Scope, and therefore price, is settled in writing before anything starts.

04

Who owns what

The words, drawings, diagrams and page designs here are ours. The material we publish for download is yours to read, keep and share internally, and it stays ours to license.

Anything you type into a tool on this site stays yours. Handing us your figures doesn't hand us any right to your business information beyond using it to answer you, which the privacy page sets out.

The rule we sell is the rule we run here too: in a paid engagement, what the work produces is built in your accounts and belongs to you. That's stated on the trust page and it's a term of the engagement, not of this site.

05

Links and embedded services

Some pages link out, and some embed a scheduling tool or a form served by another company. We don't control those, and their terms and privacy practices are their own.

Where a link earns us a referral fee, it's disclosed at the point of the link. We never place one inside a proposal or a priced recommendation, because a recommendation that pays us shouldn't be able to hide inside a price.

06

What we're not liable for

The site is provided as it is. We don't warrant that it's uninterrupted, error free, or fit for a particular purpose, and to the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for loss arising from your use of it or from a decision you took on the strength of an estimate it produced.

None of that limits anything that can't be limited by law, and none of it applies to a signed engagement, which carries its own terms.

07

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and the courts there have jurisdiction. TDAL is based in Orinda, California.
